Bueno es posible que así sean los refugios no?? después de todo esta dentro de la definición.....pero quizás pocos puedan imaginarse un lugar como "refugio Frey" y eso es porque Frey es:el refugio,el lugar,la gente,la historia...
Quizás el otro día escalando con amigos pensaba ,como es posible haber pasado tanto tiempo en
este lugar y siempre parece que fuera la primera ves....bueno creo que eso es posible solo porque ofrece tanto que uno olvida quizás la ultima ves y solo piensa con la próxima vuelta.
La primera ves que fui a escalar fue en el '89 y volví muchas otras veces ,pero de cada ves que volví puedo rescatar una experiencia y un buen recuerdo también.Pase mas tiempo ahí que en muchos lugares de los alrededores.!!!
Hay momentos en el verano en que uno esta escalando y desde arriba de alguna torre se puede ver gente que llega desde el filo o toman sol en la laguna ,descansan en el refugio pero siempre hay gente que va que viene ,que se queda..
Y así como pasan los días de verano vienen los de otoño ,y con esto cambia la actividad de a poco
en el valle..los primeros días de otoño si tenemos suerte la laguna se congela para poder patinar .
Después el invierno... la otra temporada....la del ski y la escalada en hielo...las mejores lineas entre torres de granito y toda clase de nieve (según la ladera que elijamos para esquiar!!).A solo una h
ora y media desde el ultimo remonte en Catedral,podemos estar en un ambiente "alpino de invierno"...un verdadero lujo.Los distinto valles de los alrededores ofrecen varias alternativas,siempre dependiendo de las condiciones del momento podemos encontrar "polvo" si sabemos buscar por los alrededores...
Pero sobre todas las cosas aprendo..por mi cuenta o por lo que te muestran otros ..el lugar es una escuela en si mismo y eso es lo que mas valoro de Frey.Esta en el espíritu del lugar y de la gente que uno conoce a través del tiempo.
Solo espero que todos tengan la misma experiencia y puedan aprender a respetar lo que ahí se conservo por tanto tiempo....
Así que si están por Bariloche no dejen de visitar Frey.Es posible como un paseo de un día ,o varios si uno quiere aprovechar para escalar en roca!!

When one pictures a refugio (mountain refuge), you always think of some type of house, or a bunch of sticks that form a house, or maybe in the best case a metal box where it doesn’t rain inside and you can spend the night.
Well, it’s possible that this is what refugios are, right? After all, it’s in the definition…but maybe a few can imagine a place like Refugio Frey: the refugio, the place, the people, and the history.
The other day while climbing with friends I thought, how is it that even after spending so much time in this place, it always seems like the first time?? Well I think that’s possible because Frey offers so much that you forget about the last time and only think about the next trip.
The first time I climbed was in ’89 and I’ve been back many more times. Every time I come back I can relive an experience and memory as well. I’ve spent more time there than most places in the surrounding area.
There are moments in the summer when you’re climbing and from the top of some tower, you can see people coming from the ridge, sunning in the lagoon, or relaxing in the refugio. There are always people that come, who stay….
This way the days of summer pass and then autumn comes. With this, the activity in the valley changes. If we’re lucky, the lagoon freezes in the first days of autumn so we can skate.
Next is winter….the other high season…the season to ski and ice climb…the best line in between towers of granite and all types of snow (following the slopes we pick to ski!). Only an hour and a half from the last drop off in Catedral, we can be in an “alpine winter” atmosphere…a true luxury. The different valleys of the surroundings offer various alternatives, always depending on the conditions of the moment, we can find “powder” if we know where to look…
Of everything I’ve learned—from my experiences and those of others—Frey is a school in and of itself, and this is its most valuable quality. It’s the spirit of the place and the people that you meet over time.
I only hope that everyone has the same experiences and can learn to respect what’s there and conserve it for a long time…
So if you’re in Bariloche, come and visit Frey! It’s easy to go up for a day, or many if you’d like to take advantage of the rock climbing!!
