Many destinations are well known for climbing in the world, and the USA is one of these….not just because it’s a single destination, but because there are many places to go and each are their own world.
Here there’s a collection of routes that I started with some friends from home and other friends from life that were travelling around these famous areas for vacation and climbing.
We started in California at Yosemite. A classic that always surprises you like it’s the first time you’ve set foot there…
Like all the classics, you know you want to climb it, because you’ve seen it before at least once if not thousands of times…so we also went to the most well known of all!!
The route that I liked the best was maybe the first…”Serenity Crack & Sons of Yesterday,” a 5.10d/5.10a. Later we came across others like East Buttress of Middle Cathedral 5.10c, Crest Jewel 5.10a in the North Dome and the Regular Northwest Face of Half Dome between the others.
Because we didn’t want to try Nose, we came back by Texas Flake, the biggest wall.
This part of the journey I shared with Kozulj, Campitteli, and Marcos “The Yeti.”
After a month with them, I continued on my journey towards Boulder, Colorado….more towards the center of the states. It’s a modern city with many ideas working towards conserving the environment. My local friends hosted us (Rolo, Joaquin, among others). There we met up with the company “Capi” a few other locals and set of to do the “Diamond.” It’s the face of the Long Peak, an incredible wall of the Rocky Mountain National Park, one of the best parks in the states.
After a long time and a lot of heat in Colorado, I said goodbye to my friends and left for the north to Bozeman, Montana…the cowboy state in the USA. It was an incredible (and interesting) journey by Greyhound (the classic buses). It was a great time to meet up with my friend Juampi and his family. We had a great time together climbing, going to rodeos, and biking a lot.
We had some time to escape after work for a weekend to go to Wyoming to climb the Tetons…famous mountains in the middle of the grasslands of the West. We did the route Black Ice Couloir, a mix of ice and rock. We started pre-dawn after sleeping in the car (Which you can’t do for sure). With a little bit of a hangover from the Mexican dinner the night before, we climbed 2000 mts to the peak. We escaped before the famous electrical storms of mid-afternoon, with hail and all!!
We went back to Bozeman for a few more days of climbing in the village and beers in Crystal.
It was a trip with a little bit of everything and a lot more to do…but my best memories are of my friends that are there. I’ll surely go back one of these days. The best compilation of photos is in the following link:
